Kate wins Tassie trip on Gazette

ENTERING a competition for a Tasmanian Travelways holiday in the Gazette was a joke that turned true for Wauchope resident, Kate McCudden.

Ms McCudden was notified last week that she had won the western wilderness experience that features a complete holiday package.

And to make the prize even more special, Ms McCudden said this was the first time she had entered a competition, of any kind.

“I entered the competition because too many of my work mates were taking trips to Tasmanian,” she said.

“And one day at work we were reading the Tasmanian Travelways feature that was in the Gazette and I decided to enter the competition.

“It was really a joke.

“To enter the competition you had to say in 25 words or less why you would love to experience Tasmania’s western wilderness.

“So I wrote ‘all my friends aren’t getting married, they’re all just going to Tassie. I want to get a T-shirt saying I’ve Been to Tassie Too’. And I also put musical notes around the phrase too.

“All my friends really aren’t getting married, but I had the Skyhooks song (All My Friends Are Getting Married) going around in my head while I was filling out my answer.

“Actually, the organisers of the holiday said my entry stood out because it was different and quirky.”

Ms McCudden said she was ‘very much’ looking forward to the trip.

“I am ecstatic really,” she said.

“I am looking forward to experiencing Tasmania because everyone I have spoken to says they are in awe of the scenery.

“So I am really looking forward to taking all that in during the holiday.

“Actually a friend from work is currently holidaying in Tasmanian and before she left I jokingly told her I would probably see her because I was going to win the trip.

“So this is a joke come true really.”
