18/06/2008 7:13:00 AM
Rand Walbundrie Tigers put an end to its losing run, by holding off a fast finishing Henty to win a nail biter by just ten points at Henty to record its first win for 2008.

A dominating first quarter by the Tigers proved the difference with six first quarter goals setting up a handy five goal break at quarter time.

The Tigers benefited greatly with the return of Andrew Harvey who kicked six goals in a superb display. It is no coincidence that when Harvey plays, the Tigers perform well.

Midfielder Clint Gilson capped off a brilliant game by kicking his fourth goal in the dying minutes to thwart the Swampies late charge for victory.

For Henty exciting youngster Ben Klemke led the way with three goals, while Andrew and Matt Wilson never stopped trying and inspired the last quarter charge.

BLOCKBUSTER SET FOR CULCAIRN

Hume football supporters are set for a real treat when last years grand finalist Culcairn and Osborne meet in the long awaited rematch at Culcairn this Saturday.

The Hume ladder has quite a unique and amazing look to it with four teams Osborne, Culcairn, Jindera and Holbrook all locked together on (32) points after the completion of round ten.

Culcairn still remain the only undefeated team and are level on points with the other three teams, due to them already having their two byes. Osborne, Jindera and Holbrook are yet to have second bye.

This weeks blockbuster at home to Osborne will be the commencement of a tough five week block that will see Culcairn play the other five teams in the top six.

Much anticipation waits the next five weeks with the ladder set to have a fascinating look to it when all first round matches are completed.

One of the first genuine upsets for the season has added extra intrigue to the final six makeups, with Billabong Crows narrow defeat of Walla turning fortunes of both sides.

The Crows win has reignited its season which had plummeted of late following a promising start that saw them in the top three for the first month of the season.
